What armies did you play and can you play Tau?

Could the Tau be played in 2nd edition (e.g. was there a codex for them)?

Also, who played which armies in 2nd ?

I played Chaos (included deamons, cult and marines in the same list), Space Wolf and Ork.

For Chaos, I favoured Tzeentch and Black legion (undivided) with my models
For Ork, I favoured Blood axe and Bad moonz with with models.

I played against Imperial Guard (tank heavy), Tyranids, Eldar craftworld and Chaos.

Tyranids were normally the most imposing, though Eldar most messed with my plans and IG just had lots of firepower.

Tau i think where 3rd edition.

Tau was a third edition army Necros came out on 2nd/3ed cusp, the rule book is third editon but there was a 2nd edition playing guide.

I started 40K at the time the 3rd editon codex was due, so never played 2nd until recently, for me 3rd edition is the definitive rule set [heresy I hear you say]

I played Space Marines, Space Wolves and Imperial Guard in 2nd Edition. Though I saw Eldar, Orks and Tyranids played quite often.
